Ana Coss

Ana Coss Torrez (she/her) is a Bolivian violinist from La Paz, currently based in Glasgow. She is currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Guido de Groote and Donnie Deacon. She is an active member of Garúa Tango Club, performing tango and contemporary repertoire with the ensemble since 2024.

As a soloist, she has performed works such as Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole, Piazzolla’s Las Estaciones Porteñas, and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. She studied violin in Bolivia and completed her Final Violin Recital at the Plurinational Conservatoire of Music in 2021, presenting a programme that included solo repertoire, chamber music, and virtuosic works.

A central part of her musical formation took place within the Bolivia Clásica Foundation, where she studied violin with Alexander Lapich as her main teacher. Through Bolivia Clásica, she participated over these years in short courses, masterclasses and chamber music projects with international professors and visiting artists. This played a key role in her development, particularly through intensive chamber music work and regular performance opportunities.

Alongside her studies, Ana has worked with the Youth Chamber Orchestra of the Bolivia Clásica Foundation and the Bolivian Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2022, she participated in the "Encuentros" LaPhil Festival in Los Angeles, performing at the Hollywood Bowl under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, collaborating with Esperanza Spalding, and taking part in activities and masterclasses with musicians connected to "El Sistema" (Venezuela). In 2024 she participated in the Bolivia Clásica Festival “TakuApu”, where she performed and worked on chamber repertoire with violinist Leticia Moreno.
